When and how often will I be paid?
Your commissions are paid on the last week of each month following the first 60 days after the sale. The registered account must also be currently active and paid up to date at the time of payout, and there is no minimum balance limit to reach before you are paid.
For example, if you made one sale in January, you will be paid your $50 commission the last week of March. If you continue to make regular sales each month afterward, then expect to be paid on the last week of every month (after your first commission payment).
Where do I get the required links and banners to be an affiliate?
Your ad banners and links will be provided to you within your affiliate control panel, after you have registered your affiliate account.
How do I sign up to be a HostGator Affiliate?
You can register by visiting our affiliate sign up page. There is nothing to purchase and you will not be required to abide by sales quotas or rituals. You can make as much money as you would like, whenever you like.

How can I get coupons to give to my referrals?
You can offer any of our coupon codes.
Coupon codes are not linked to any affiliate account and can be used without forfeiting a commission.
How can I automatically use a coupon with my affiliate link?
You cannot. The referred visitor must enter the coupon code while signing up.
Can I participate in the affiliate program if I live outside of the United States?
Yes, of course. If you are able to access the internet, you are eligible to participate in the HostGator Affiliate Program.
We have affiliates from all around the globe selling our products, and no other obligations or fees are required from us to do so.
Am I required to have a hosting account with HostGator in order to become an affiliate?
You do NOT need to be a HostGator hosting customer to be an affiliate. There is no extra incentive in being a HostGator customer and affiliate, so everyone is paid the same commission rates for the same amount of sales.
Can I use my commission towards web hosting fees or services?
No, your commission may only be paid directly to you either by check or PayPal, and cannot be applied toward any other products or services.
Cookie Tracking Information
Our affiliate program uses cookie tracking to track and award sales made through the referral link. The tracking cookie is valid for 60 days and is awarded on a last click basis. If someone uses your link before signup, it will overwrite any other affiliate cookie currently in their system.
Do I have to record my commissions with the IRS?
HostGator will pay you as an Independent Contractor, and commissions will need to be filed with the IRS according to your local and federal governing laws.

Does HostGator use this tracking technology to gather information on customers or site visitors?
No, we do not use our affiliate tracking code to track or log information other than when a sale is made and who to pay for that sale.
How do I track my sales activity and commissions?
You can view your account status, sales activity, commissions and much more by logging into your affiliate control panel.
How do you track my affiliate transactions?
Your affiliate transactions are tracked the same way your favorite website automatically fills in your username each time you visit it on your personal computer: with cookies. These cookies remember which affiliate’s link or ad was clicked by the visitor. Once that transaction and sale is made, the cookies tell the parent company who to pay.
How long do I have to wait to start as a HostGator Affiliate?
You can start earning commission immediately after registering for your affiliate account. There is no screening process and no waiting for your account to be activated.

How much can I earn?
How much would you like to earn? You can either be a casual affiliate and let your links and banner ads naturally trickle in business, or you can actively pursue sales and commission targets and rake in your earnings. Most sites on the internet require cookies to be enabled, and this technology will remain part of the internet for a long time.
A customer who has cookies disabled on their browser will not be able to have their sales tracked; however, studies have shown that cookies are rejected by users only 0.68% of the time, so you have a 99.32% chance of making a successful sale.
What is an Affiliate Program?
An affiliate program is a marketing program where you can receive commission for helping a parent company (such as HostGator) generate sales. The parent company provides you with all your advertising tools such as banner ads, links and tracking codes for you to place on your sites, in your emails or other internet listings. When a visitor to your site or listing clicks on an ad or link, the transaction is tracked. If this transaction results in a sale for the parent company, you get paid for that sale. It’s that simple!
